NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW - WARRIOR TRACK

Pittsburg, KS – The 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships will feature 29 individuals from the Indian Hills program as the Warriors look to build on a historic season at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

MEN'S NOTES

The men's squad makes the trek to Pittsburg as the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, behind No. 1 South Plains (TX), No. 2 Iowa Western, and No. 3 Barton (KS). The Warriors have been ranked in the top-five all season, and have been ranked as high as No. 3.

The Warriors will look to a number of individuals to carry the team with an expectation of its best finish in program history. The Warriors are coming off a ninth-place finish at last year's indoor national championship, the best showing by an Indian Hills squad.

60-Meter Dash: Indian Hills ranks third nationally in the 60-meter dash after Aurel Tchanbi, the ICCAC Athlete of the Year, sprinted to a first-place finish at the NJCAA Region XI Indoor Championships. Keep an eye on Damoy Allen as well, the sophomore posted the best time of the year for the Warriors at 6.71.

200-Meter Dash: The Warriors claimed the top three spots at the region championship as Tchanbi, Allen, Isiah Thomas, along with Kendrick Winfield have all broke 21.45 on the year.

600-Meter Dash: Rivaldo Marshall's rapid rise as a freshman has powered the Warriors all season. Marshall's school record mark of 1:18.56 is tied for the top time in the nation this year.

800-Meter Dash: Another middle-distance event dominated by Rivaldo Marshall, the freshman boasts the third-best all-conditions time this year and will go up against a competitive field chasing an individual title.

1,000-Meter Dash: Rivaldo Marshall and Nick O'Connor have been impressive all season long in the event. With a dominant field of athletes, both Warriors will look for a school record to finish at or near the top of the leaderboard.

WOMEN'S NOTES

The Warrior women are coming off a third-place finish at the NJCAA Region XI Indoor Championships and are currently ranked No. 8 in the nation by the USTFCCCA. The Warriors put together their best showing at the national meet last season with a 19th place finish.

60-Meter Dash: A number of individuals will look for a shot at All-American honors in the 60-meter dash, including Kayla McCray who posted a 7.55 just one month ago.

200-Meter Dash: Kahliyah Anderson's school record of 24.65 will carry the sophomore into a highly-competitive field with a shot at All-American honors.

600-Meter Dash: One of the top performers throughout the year, Aliyah Simmons enters the national championship with the top time in the 600-meter run at 1:32.42. The First-Team All-Region XI selection will aim towards becoming the first individual national champion in program history.
