WARRIORS RANKED NO. 3 IN THE NATION

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Indoor Track & Field program has burst onto the national scene to open the 2022 season. The Warriors' success has been rewarded with a No. 3 national ranking in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index.

Along with the Warriors' national ranking, the team earned the No. 1 spot in the USTFCCCA National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Midwest Region Rating Index for the first time in program history. The Warriors earned 664.80 points in the index to top the regional index that includes teams from Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio.

Through four meets to open the year, head coach Brent Ewing has seen the exceptional growth of this year's group that has helped set a new standard for the Warrior program.

"Our men's program is loaded with NCAA DI talent. The depth that we have in some events is unheard of. We have a very talented group of sophomores and I'm really trying to cherish this last year with them. They have helped set the bar extremely high during their time here. I'm very proud of the group that we have and proud to be ranked so high this early in the year. Our focus right now is to keep doing the little things right. I want our guys to be excited about the way they have elevated our program into a legitimate top-five contender, but I also want them to understand that we have a lot of work ahead of us."

The Warriors currently boast 14 individual marks in the top-10 of their respective event. Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) has been a spark for the Warriors in his first season, currently leading all NJCAA individuals in the 1000m. Marshall also ranks No. 2 in the nation in the 800m and No. 3 in the 600m.

Sophomores Aurel Tchanbi (Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire/College Heleis) and Kendrick Winfield (Louisville, KY/Louisville Male) have powered the Warrior sprinters with top-five times in the 200m.

Tchanbi and Marshall have both been recognized by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) as conference Athletes of the Week while Winfield was honored as the National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA in December.

The Warriors will showcase their talent at the Mark Schuck Open Jan. 28-29 in Mankato, MN.
