Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Soccer team and head coach Zac Newton have announced the hiring of Nuukele Gboe as the progam's Assistant Coach.
Gboe brings a wealth of soccer experience to the Warriors, a program that captured its first national championship in school history in 2025.
"I am incredibly honored and excited to join the coaching staff of the defending National Champions," state Gboe. "This is a program built on excellence, hard work, and high standards, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its continued success while helping our student-athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field."
Gboe joins the Warriors following a standout professional and collegiate career on the pitch. Gboe most recently competed for Georgia Lions FC of the National Independent Soccer Association in addition to stints with CF Sparta Selemet in Moldova, Albion San Diego, FC Buffalo, and Dakota Fusion FC.
Gboe's professional career also included time with the Liberia U20 national squad.
A native of Gbarnga, Liberia, Gboe boasted an impressive collegiate career at NCAA DI Niagara University, appearing in nearly 40 career games as a primary midfielder. Gboe also brings National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) experience to Ottumwa after beginning his collegiate career at Northland Community & Technical College.
"We are excited to welcome Nuuke to our staff," stated Newton. Nuuke is joining us to begin his college coaching jersey after playing pro soccer overseas. He's enthusiastic and eager to learn. We are excited to see how he grows into his new role as a collegiate soccer coach."
Gboe's coaching experience spans a number of organizations throughout the years, including the Centennial Soccer Club and FC Barcelona Ohio.
Gboe received a graduate degree in Sports Administration and an undergraduate degree in Marketing, both from Niagara. Gboe also received an associate's degree in Management from Northland.
