For the fourth consecutive year, Indian Hills and Barton will match up on the pitch with a neutral-site matchup on the campus of Iowa Western Community College on Friday night.

  • Indian Hills opened the new year with a pair of quality wins over nationally ranked opponents
  • The Warriors are currently ranked No. 2 in the preseason national poll, with the next national rankings set to be released Sept. 3
  • Freshman Enzo de Almeida was named the ICCAC DI Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
  • Freshman Bennett Kouame was tapped as the ICCAC DI Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
  • Seven different Warriors scored in the opening two matchups this season, including two goals apiece from Almeida and sophomore Alessandra Peruz.
  • Freshman Matteo Malaguti has worked 135:00 in net for the Warriors to earn both victories.
  • A total of 26 individuals have seen action on the pitch so far this season for the Warriors.
  • The Warriors are 2-2-1 all-time vs. Barton, including a 3-2 win over the Cougars on Oct. 3, 2024 in Great Bend, KS.
  • The two squads battled in a thrilling matchup at the 2023 NJCAA DI Men's Soccer National Championship Pool Play round with the Cougars narrowly escaping in a sudden-death shootout.
  • Both teams have been nationally ranked in each of the previous four matchups.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS

Barton has opened the year with a 1-0-0 record after dropping Trinidad State College (CO) 8-0 in Dodge City, KS.

  • Barton entered the new year in the Receiving Votes (RV) category of the preseason national poll after going 12-7-3 last season.
  • The Cougars squared off against Pratt Community College (KS) on August 24, but the game was suspended in the first half due to weather with the Cougars leading 1-0.
  • Seven different players have scored for the Cougars this year, including a pair of goals from freshman Tsuji Masaki.
  • Barton lost each of its top five scorers from a year ago, and return just three players who scored a goal last season.
  • The Cougars will look to rely on a pair of newcomers in net in Keagan Lewis and Gabriel Bergamin.
  • Barton has advanced to the national tournament three times since 2018, including a runner-up finish in 2018.
  • The Cougars will square off against No. 1 nationally ranked Iowa Western on Saturday night in Council Bluffs.
  • Barton is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Rafael Simmons.
