WARRIORS EARN HIGHEST NATIONAL RANK IN SCHOOL HISTORY

2024 NJCAA DI MEN'S SOCCER POLL - WEEK 1

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Soccer team soared to No. 4 in the national polls, marking the highest rank in school history. The Warriors are 5-0-0 to start the 2024 season.

Following an unblemished week that saw the Warriors achieve their best start to a season in program history, Indian Hills received 119 points from the voting committee in the first regular season edition of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer poll to crack the top five. The Warriors, who were ranked No. 7 in the preseason national poll, surpassed the program's highest national ranking of No. 5, set in 2017.

Indian Hills secured a pair of wins last week, a 3-1 defeat of Lincoln Trail College (IL) and a 6-0 shutout of Western Nebraska Community College before taking down Southeastern Community College 6-0 on Monday afternoon. Indian Hills, the only 5-0-0 team in the nation to start the year, is currently tied for first in the NJCAA with 22 goals scored this year. The Warriors also boast the second-largest goal differential in the nation at 20.

As a team, the Warriors have seen 14 different individuals score a goal to open up the year. On the defensive front, Indian Hills boasts a 0.40 goals against average with three shutouts, tied for the most in the NJCAA.

Sophomore keeper Bernardo Manzano (Palmas, Brazil/Layton Christian Academy) currently leads the nation with his five victories and boasts the most minutes played in net.

Eastern Florida State College jumped eight spots to take over the No. 1 rank in the national poll following a 3-0 start to the year. Salt Lake Community College (UT) and Cowley College (KS) round out the top three.

Indian Hills has now been ranked in 10 consecutive NJCAA polls dating back to week one of the 2023 season.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Spencer, IA to take on Iowa Lakes Community College, the defending NJCAA DII Men's Soccer National Champions. Kick-off is set for 1:00 PM.
