Ottumwa -- Indian Hills freshman forward Jose Andres Gonzalez turned an outstanding season into recognition as a first-team All-Region selection. Andres Gonzalez was one of four Indian Hills players named to the All-Region squads by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.
The native of Venezuela scored 10 goals this season and added two assists for the Warriors. The forward had a four-goal outburst in a league win against Northeast (Neb.), after which he was named the conference player of the week.
Midfielder Joao Brasil was the Indian Hills representative on the All-Region second team. The freshman had four goals and led the team with nine assists.
IHCC had two players -- Joe Roche-Gerrard (left) and Pedro Viera (right), both freshman defenders -- tabbed for Honorable Mention accolades. Both played in all 18 matches for the Warriors this fall.
The All-Region teams were determined in a vote of the conference's eight coaches. Sixteen players were voted to the first team with Marshalltown leading the way with five selections.
