IHCC Drops League Match to Iowa Central

Ottumwa -- Iowa Central jumped on Indian Hills with three goals in the first 16 minutes of play and the visiting Tritons went on to defeat IHCC, 6-1, on Thursday at the IHCC field. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday of this week, but had to be postponed when severe weather forced delays in the women's game that was to precede the men's contest and there wasn't enough daylight to get the men's game played.

The Tritons didn't waste any time on their return trip to Ottumwa, as Thomas Frankland's goal with less than six minutes elapsed got the scoring started for ICCC. Almedin Plavulj and Haris Miftari added scores in the 14th and 16th minutes, respectively.

IHCC's Joao Brasil (pictured above) knocked home a goal with under a minute remaining in the opening half to cut the deficit to 3-1 at intermission. Iowa Central came back with two tallies to start the second half and got their final goal in the 86th minute.

Phillipe Catao and Ricardo Haro shared goalkeeper duties for the Warriors and they combined for four saves, with each allowing three goals.

Indian Hills only managed four shots on goal and nine shots total in the match.

"When you give up three goals on corner kicks and one on a penalty kick, it makes it pretty tough to win," said IHCC coach Jared Beauchamp.

The Warriors (5-11, 4-9) end the regular season schedule with a home contest against Northeast CC on Saturday.
