Ottumwa -- A second-half goal by Indian Hills' Gabriel Gazal (pictured above) snapped a 1-1 tie and the Warriors went on to defeat Scott CC, 3-1, in action on the IHCC field on Tuesday afternoon. The win was the first in four conference contests for Indian Hills and improved their overall record to 2-5.

After Scott scored the only goal of the first half, IHCC's Joao Brasil tied the scored at 1-all. Gazal then broke the deadlock with a goal in the 65th minute. Gerald Valera later added a big insurance tally in the 87th minute for the Warriors to provide the final margin. Valera's goal came after Scott's starting goalkeeper, Austin Gile, drew a red card after a sliding tackle on IHCC's Pedro Rosa. His replacement surrrendered the goal to Valera that nailed down the win for the Warriors.

Indian Hills coach Jaren Beauchamp admitted his team was a little "deflated" after allowing the early goal, but the equalizer by Brasil came as a result of the Warriors continuing to attack and creating scoring chances. "When you go through a few matches without scoring a goal, it's just a matter of keeping the guys from getting frustrated," the coach explained. "We just had to keep working and keep plugging away."
