Warriors Suffer Tough Loss

Ottumwa -- A first-half goal by Iowa Lakes' Edgar Guzman was the only score of the game in the Lakers' 1-0 shutout over Indian Hills on Saturday. Guzman's goal came on a deflected header and despite numerous scoring chances for Indian Hills late in the second half the goal stood up as the game-winner.

Indian Hills freshman goalkeeper Phillipe Catao permitted the lone goal and stopped seven shots in a solid performance in goal for the Warriors, who were blanked for the third straight conference game.

Indian Hills lost Christian Silva Correa de Lima to a red card in the 68th minute and played a man down the rest of the way. Still, they had at least three solid scoring chances in the final minutes of the match.

"I don't think you can prepare a team for a match that was allowed to get away from the officials like that," said IHCC coach Jaren Beauchamp. "On the other hand, that type of thing can happen and we have to do a better job of coping with it."

It was tough week for the Warriors who lost close matches to two of the top teams in the conference. IHCC dropped a 2-0 decision at Marshalltown on Wednesday.

The Warriors (1-5) will be at home to take on Scott CC on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00.
