IHCC Falls at Marshalltown

Marshalltown -- The host Tigers scored an early goal, added two more late in the second half, and made them stand up in a 3-1 win against Indian Hills on Tuesday.

MCC, ranked 18th in this week's NJCAA Division I poll, opened the scoring in the second minute of play when Eniz Smajlovic found the back of the net. But the IHCC defense stiffened after that and kept the Tigers off the scoreborad the remainder of the half.

Charles Huberty got MCC's second goal in the 69th minute and, four minutes later, Agustin Ortiz scored to make it 3-0.

Indian Hills (2-8, 1-7) was held scoreless until Tom Johnson tallied the Warriors' lone goal off a rebound late in the second half.

Alex Alvarez had a good effort in net for the Warriors as the IHCC goalkeeper stopped seven shots.

Back-to-back games are on the schedule this weekend for the Indian Hills men. They will travel to Missouri to take on Wentworth Military Academy Saturday before returning home to face the Culver-Stockton JV Sunday afternoon.
