Indian Hills suffered a pair of defeats in its season-opening tournament over the weekend, losing to Century College from Minnesota, 4-0, and dropping a 2-0 decision to Wentworth Academy from Missouri.
Even though they didn't get a victory playing on their home pitch, IHCC coach Doug Seigle saw some good things from his team. "I'm happy we made progress from our first match to our second one," Seigle said. "I'm positive we're going in the right direction, but we've just got a lot of stuff we have to work on before regional play begins."
The Warriors were blanked in the Wentworth match despite a team-high five shots from Sebastian Carrion, who just missed tying the score at 1-all late in the second half.
Colton Mihalovich was strong in goal for IHCC in that contest, recording 13 saves. He didn't allow a goal until over 49 minutes had been played and the second Wentworth goal came with just minutes remaining.
Indian Hills travels to play Carl Sandburg CC on Friday night at 6:30.
