Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore KJ LaMonte (Davenport, IA/New Mexico Highlands) of the No. 5 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday.
LaMonte becomes the sixth different Warrior to earn the weekly honor this season, and the 10th time this season Indian Hills has been recognized with Athlete of the Week accolades.
The sophomore guard led the Warriors to a pair of double-digit road victories last week with a strong offensive showing. The Warriors defeated Triton College (IL) 69-54 before securing an ICCAC victory at Marshalltown Community College on Saturday night, 108-61.
In the two wins, LaMonte averaged 14.0 points per game while shooting 68.8 percent from the floor. The sophomore poured in 15 points in the win over Triton before dropping 13 points over Marshalltown, LaMonte's 17th game in double-figures this season, and fifth straight.
LaMonte currently ranks second on the team with 12.3 points per game this year while shooting an efficient 53.8 percent from the floor.
Indian Hills is back in action Saturday night at the Hellyer Center as the Warriors welcome league foe Southeastern Community College. Action gets underway at 7:00 PM.
