WEEK 5: HOOPDIRT.COM COACH OF THE WEEK
Ottumwa, IA – Indian Hills Men's Basketball Head Coach Cole Dewey has been named the Week 5 Junior College HoopDirt.Com Coach of the Week, announced Monday morning.
The honor comes after a pair of key wins in Levelland, TX over the weekend that saw the Warriors go unbeaten in the Texan Classic. The Warriors took down preseason No. 1 nationally ranked South Plains College (TX) and No. 18 nationally ranked Frank Phillips College (TX) to move to 11-3 on the year.
In his first year at the helm of the program, Dewey has led the Warriors to nine consecutive wins, including a 7-0 mark in true road/neutral games this year. The Warriors are currently ranked No. 5 in the nation, having moved up in the rankings in each of the first four National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball polls on the year.
Over the course of the season, Indian Hills has collected five Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week honors as the Warriors have utilized a well-balanced attack on both ends of the court.
In a trio of games last week, the Warriors toppled Dakota County Technical College (MN) 130-73 at the Hellyer Center before hitting the road to South Plains for the weekend. The Warriors rallied back from a 17-point deficit in the opening half to knock off the host Texans 94-88. Indian Hills used a strong second half in the weekend finale against Frank Phillips to run past the Plainsmen 76-62.
The Warriors are set for another key non-conference matchup as No. 3 nationally ranked Snow College (UT) comes to the Hellyer Center for the three-day Financial Partners Classic this weekend. Action gets underway Friday night at 7:00 PM.
