Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Basketball team will be well represented at a pair of summer recruiting events this week. Four student-athletes, along with head coach Cole Dewey will participate in events in Atlanta, GA and Phoenix, AZ.
Returning sophomore William Beugre-Kassi (Pontoise, France/Albert Thomas) will take part in in both the JA48 event in Phoenix, AZ July 11-12 and the All-American JUCO Showcase in Atlanta, GA July 12-14. Kassi is coming off a breakout freshman campaign for the Warriors where the 6'8 France native averaged 6.3 points per game while helping lead the Warriors to a Final Four run at the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball Championship.
JA48, an annual sanctioned summer league event, features 48 of the top junior college players in the country. JA48 serves as one of the top JUCO recruiting events for upcoming junior college sophomores and as part of the PRO16/NXT League circuit.
Kassi will be joined by Dewey who will serve as head coach of one of the six participating teams at the Arizona Athletic Grounds arena. The JA48 event has now featured an Indian Hills coach in each of the last four seasons, joining previous head coaches Josh Sash and Hank Plona.
The invite-only All-American JUCO Showcase will see four Warriors compete in Atlanta. In addition to Kassi, returning sophomore Jamal Entezami (Berlin, Germany/ Hermann-Ehlers Gymnasium) and incoming sophomore transfers Kayden Nation (Peoria, IL/Western Nebraska) and Abdoulaye Fall (Dakar, Senegal/SPIRE Institute) will take the court.
The All-American JUCO Showcase Invitational is the top event for the nation's best junior college players who are rising or returning sophomores in junior college. The NCAA certified event has served as host to a number of high-level junior college products, including current NBA players Gary Payton II, Chris Duarte, and Keon Ellis.
Entezami played a key role down the stretch last year for the Warriors, making an impact during the team's postseason run. Nation will join the Warriors as a sophomore for the upcoming campaign after transferring from Western Nebraska Community College where the 6'7 guard averaged 11.5 points per contest. Fall joins this year's squad after a standout freshman season at Cloud County Community College (KS) after averaging 11.6 points per game.
Nation will also see action at the Next Up Invitational in partnership with Cody Hopkins in Phoenix, AZ July 13-14
