Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Chris Mpaka (Kinsasha, Congo/Frank Phillips) has been tapped as this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Indian Hills Men's Basketball team to a dominant win at the Hellyer Center.
Mpaka becomes the fourth different Warrior to land the ICCAC DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor this season. Indian Hills has now captured five consecutive ICCAC DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards.
Mpaka has strung together a series of impressive performances to close out the first half of the season, highlighted by a nine-point, 13-rebound effort to lead No. 12 Indian Hills to an 82-42 victory over Seward County Community College. The sophomore went 4-6 from the floor to up his season field goal percentage to 51.3 percent this year.
Mpaka added his second consecutive double-digit rebounding effort against Seward with 13 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. The sophomore also added a block to lead the defensive charge for the Warriors.
Over his last three outings, Mpaka is now averaging 10.7 rebounds and 9.0 points per game as the Warriors have won four straight contests.
Indian Hills returns to action December 30 at the Hellyer Center for a nonconference matchup against Cloud County Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
