NUNI OMOT SIGNS WITH NEW YORK KNICKS

Ottumwa, IA – Former Indian Hills Basketball standout Nuni Omot has signed a professional contract with the New York Knicks. Omot starred for the Warriors during the 2015-16 season.

Omot is coming off an impressive showing for South Sudan in the Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers, averaging 14.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists to catch the attention of the Knicks. South Sudan is currently second in the FIBA rankings and are just one win away from securing a place in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Omot earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Honorable Mention All-American honors during his lone season in Ottumwa after averaging 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game while starting 33 contests. Omot helped lead the Warriors to a 29-5 record, an NJCAA Region XI title, an NJCAA District championship, and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS.

Following his career with the Warriors, Omot had a standout career at Baylor University. The forward appeared in 54 career games while averaging 9.9 points per game during his senior season.

Omot has produced an impressive professional career on his way to the NBA. Omot had stints with the Golden State Warriors Summer League team in 2018 and the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League. Omot has since played professionally in Macedonia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Germany, and his most recent stop in Puerto Rico.
