FORMER WARRIORS TO COMPETE AT HIGH-LEVEL EVENTS

Ottumwa, IA – A pair of former Indian Hills Basketball standouts will head to New Orleans this weekend to compete in two high-level events following successful seasons for their programs. Drake Jeffries and Torrey Patton will both be featured on ESPN's family of networks in two premier events over the next several days.

Jeffries, a member of the 2019-20 Warrior program will compete in the 2022 TaxAct Men's 3-Point Championship at the 33rd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championship on Thursday, March 31. The event will take place at Xavier University of Louisiana's Convocation Center in New Orleans at 8:00 PM CT.

Jeffries, who finished his collegiate career at the University of Wyoming, was one of 24 participants from around the nation selected to compete in the slam dunk and 3-point shooting competitions. Jeffries connected on 94 three-point shots this season for the Cowboys, the third-best mark in school history while shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc. Jeffries finished his two-year career at Wyoming with 146 three-point shots made, the 11th-best mark in program history. Jeffries hit a school and Mountain West Conference record 11 three-point shots in a single game earlier this season.

Patton spent one season at Indian Hills in 2018-19 before moving on to Cleveland State University where the standout recently completed his collegiate career for the Vikings. Patton will compete in the 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship April 1-3 at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans.

Patton is one of 64 student-athletes from around the country who recently finished their college career and will begin a professional career that will compete for their share of $150,000 in the FIBA 3x3 sanctioned event. Patton will be one of four members from Cleveland State's conference, the Horizon League, that will be a part of the Horizon Valley Hoopers team. 16 teams are divided into four pools that will play each squad with a chance to advance to the knockout stage on April 3. The winning team from each pool play game will win $1,000 while a quarterfinal win will net the players $5,000 and another $10,000 in the semifinal. The winner of the tournament will add $50,000 to their winnings.

Patton was recently named Second-Team All-Horizon League this year for the second consecutive season. Patton started 80 games in his career at Cleveland State and totaled 1,109 points and 560 rebounds.
