The 2022 Indian Hills Baseball campaign marks the second season as Assistant Coach for Alec Benavides. A native of Laredo, TX, Benavides joined the program in 2020.
Benavides serves the Warrior program in many areas including pitching and recruiting. In his first full season with the Warriors in 2021, the team reached the JUCO World Series for the first time since 2004 as the team posted 44 wins while knocking off the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in Wabash Valley to win the NJCAA North Central District Championship. Under Benavides' guidance, the Warrior pitching staff totaled 493 strikeouts to just 156 walks on the year.
Benavides spent three seasons as a member of the Arkansas Little Rock Baseball program, including one season as a player manager in 2020. Benavides also attended Alvin Community College in Texas.
Benavides graduated from John B. Alexander High School where the baseball team reached the final four in the 6A Texas State Championship in 2015.
Benavides received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Arkansas Little Rock.
Benavides is the son of Violeta and Freddie Benavides. His father Freddie serves as the bench coach for the Cincinnati Reds where Alec spent time as a Baseball Operations intern for the club in 2019.
