Beatrice, NE – The Indian Hills Baseball team picked up a win in the series finale at Southeast Community College (NE) on Saturday afternoon, dropping the Bobcats 6-5 on the road. The Warriors move to 11-8 overall on the year.
A day removed from dropping a pair of games to the Bobcats, the Warriors managed to pick up a win in the finale. Indian Hills erased a three-run deficit with four runs in the top of the ninth to rally for the victory, the team's fourth come-from-behind win of the year.
Indian Hills tallied 11 hits on the day, including two apiece from Callum Donnelly (Bulli, Australia/New Mexico JC), Jose Lopez (Las Tablas, Panama/Springfield Commonwealth), and Boris Rodriguez (San Sebastian, Puerto Rico/ESCAED). Donnelly finished the afternoon with a double and a home run while driving in a pair and scoring twice.
The Warriors received strong bullpen presences from sophomore Anton Keith (Boulder, CO/Fairview) and Dylan Raines (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) who allowed just two hits over the final seven frames on Saturday. Raines secured the victory with two innings of scoreless work.
Trailing 5-0 through two innings, Donnelly deposited a two-run home run to left, the sophomore's second in as many games and fourth on the year, in the third. The Warriors continued to stay within contention as Keith kept the Bobcat offense at bay.
With Southeast held scoreless for six consecutive innings, the Warrior offense came to life in the top of the ninth. Rodriguez sparked the Warriors with a run-scoring single before freshman Ty Easley (Conroe, TX/College Park) sent a two-run home run over the left field wall to tie the game at five. A Donnelly double followed by consecutive free passes brought Lopez to the plate who delivered an RBI single to right for the eventual game winner.
Raines evaded trouble in the bottom of the ninth after inducing a bases loaded fielder's choice to secure the win for the Warriors.
Keith finished the afternoon with just one base hit allowed and five strikeouts while Raines allowed a lone base hit for the Warrior staff.
The Warriors return to historic Pat Daugherty Field March 21-22 for a four-game series with Northeast Iowa Community College.
