Centerville, IA – Douglas Rojas (Valencia, Venezuela/U.E. Cabriales) of the Indian Hills Baseball team pitched his second consecutive complete game shutout and has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Rojas earns the conference honor for the second straight week after shutting out Kirkwood Community College in a 4-0 victory for the Warriors. Rojas pitched seven winnings while scattering three hits and striking out 10 batters, tying a career-high.
A week after blanking Ellsworth in a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts, Rojas lowered his season earned run average to 10th in the nation with a 1.69 mark. The COVID-sophomore has not allowed a run in 22 consecutive innings, dating back to March 21, a span of six appearances.
Rojas currently ranks second in the ICCAC with 59 strikeouts while his 14.22 K/9 rate ranks 14th in the country.
The Warriors are back in action Thursday at Pat Daugherty Field in Centerville for a doubleheader against Iowa Western Community College. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
