Centerville -- After having its 7-game winning streak snapped by DMACC in game one, Indian Hills came back with a vengeance in the nightcap to gain a split in Wednesday's doubleheader. The Falcons won 11-1 in five innings following a 10-4 DMACC win.
IHCC ended game two early with a five-run 5th inning. Four different players -- Luis Gimenez, Ryan Humeniuk, Joshmar Doran and Max Sheldon -- scored twice, and Jacob Rhinesmith drove in three runs. Gimenez and Sheldon each had two RBIs. Indian Hills knocked out 12 hits and got solid pitching from a couple of freshmen. DJ Depiero started and allowed only one hit in four scoreless innings. Yesiel Valdez permitted a solo homer and fanned two in his only inning.
DMACC ran away to a 6-0 lead in the opener, before the Falcons tallied four in the 4th. Dillon Nelson, Gimenez, Lane Harvey and Colin Potrzeba knocked in the runs and they were scored by Rhinesmith, Will Zimmerman, Zachary Fascia and Hunter Capps. Indian Hills used five pitchers. Starter Markus Gregson took the loss. He was followed to the hill by Mitchell Price, Ray Nolan, Caleb Miley and Tristan Ledger. The five combined to give up 10 runs, but only four were earned because of four IHCC errors.
The Falcons are back in conference play this weekend when they play four games with Southwestern CC, two in Creston and two at Pat Daugherty Field.
