IHCC Wins Pair Vs. North Central

Centerville -- Indian Hills upped its season record to 16-9 by taking both ends of a doubleheader with North Central Missouri on Tuesday, beating the Pirates, 5-1 and 5-4.

Three IHCC pitchers shut down the NC offense in the opener and the Falcons held off a late rallly in the nightcap to complete the sweep.

North Central scored their only run in game one in the top of the 1st and the IHCC trio of Tristan Ledger, Markus Gregson and Jared Spearing shut them down after that. Each Indian Hills hurler went 2 1/3 innings and combined to permit the Pirates only seven hits and one walk. Spearing was especially effective in striking out five in his turn on the mound. The Falcons scored twice in the 3rd inning, twice in the 4th and added a fifth-inning run. Luis Gimenez doubled two times and drove in a pair of runs, Lane Harvey had a single and double and scored once, Dillon Nelson slammed a homer and Zachary Fascia doubled home a run.

Game two saw four IHCC pitchers on the mound as the Falcons grabbed a 5-1 lead after five innings and survived a late NC rally. DJ Depeiro started and Hunter Capps, Zachary Lauzon and Fascia worked in relief. Capps was solid in his three-inning stint, shutting out the Pirates. Fascia notched the save. Jacob Rhinesmith had two doubles and Nelson chipped in two hits as well. Gimenez and Christian Pena had the other IHCC hits. Four different players picked up RBIs.

IHCC returns to action this weekend in a four-game series at home against Marshalltown CC.
