Centerville -- A former Indian Hills baseball player and Navy SEAL will be the featured speaker at the annual IHCC baseball banquet. Jeffery Nichols will return to Centerville for the event, set for Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Manhattan Restaurant.
Nichols is the program manager of Virginia High Performance LLC and Exercise Physiologist for 2XU North America LLC. He oversees all the strength and conditioning recovery and athlete assessments for Virginia High Performance.
Nichols earned his associates degree from Indian Hills and batted .373 for the Falcons in the 1998 season. He earned a double bachelor's degree in kinesiology and chemistry from Troy University.
The one-time IHCC student-athlete has been a credentialed strength coach for 16 years, working with amateur and professional athletes of all ages. He began his career as a graduate assistant at Troy.
After obtaining his four-year degrees, Nichols joined the Navy and spent 11 years as a SEAL. Aside from serving as a SEAL while on active duty, he also worked at Naval Special Warfare. Following his honorable discharge, Nichols became the co-founder and co-owner of Virginia High Performance.
His business is also home to the No Fail Mission, a training program designed and created by Nichols and his co-owner, Alex Oliver, that trains and assists with rehabilitation of wounded veterans of the U.S. armed forces.
The baseball banquet will include dinner, a silent auction, the introduction of the 2017 Falcons players and coaches and remarks by Nichols. A social will begin at 5:00 at the Manhattan with dinner to follow at 6:00.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting a member of the IHCC coaching staff. Tickets for the banquet will also be available at the door the night of the event.
