Baseball Instructional Camp in January

Centerville -- The dates have been set for a winter baseball camp that will be put on by the Indian Hills Falcons coaching staff. The camp will be offered on Jan. 28-29 in the indoor baseball facility in the Multipurpose Building on the IHCC Centerville campus.

With personalized instruction by head coach Cam Walker, assistants Steve Kletke and Jordan Camp, and Indian Hills players, the camp is for players of all ages and will be divided into two days.

A pitching and catching session will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28. Youngsters ages 8 to 12 will attend from 9:00 to 11:30 that day; those age 13 and older will go from 1:00 to 3:30 in the afternoon.

The next day, Sunday, Jan. 29, the emphasis will be on hitting. The sessions will be the same as the day before - those from 8-12 will go from 9 to 11:30 and those 13 and older will have their instruction from 1 to 3:30.

The sessions will provide pitching and hitting fundamentals and drills.

"In this day and age of commercial athletic camps we are one of the few colleges that will teach fundamentals to improve a player's capabilities so he's prepared to play the game of baseball," said coach Walker, now in his 25th year at the helm of the IHCC baseball program. "Equally important, we'll show the campers techniques they can practice to improve their skills on their own after the camp is over."

The fee to attend is $60 per session, or $110 for both days. Campers will get a t-shirt in addition to individual instruction from the coaches and players.

Registration must be done in advance, either online at www.indianhills.edu/baseballcamp or by phone at 641-895-3588. Further information can be obtained by calling coach Walker at that phone number.
