Ottumwa -- The NAIA World Series, which begins this Friday in Lewiston, Idaho, will have a definite Indian Hills connection with seven former IHCC Falcons playing for two of the series' participants -- Lindsey Wilson College and Faulkner University.
Lindsey Wilson, from Columbia, Kentucky, will be making its first-ever trip to the World Series and boasts four players with Indian Hills experience on its roster. Right-handed pitchers Matt Lashlee, Sam Ross and Aaron Doughty all pitch for Lindsey Wilson, and former Falcon Edgar Lebron is an outfielder for the Blue Raiders. Lashlee has a 5-0 record for the season.
If Lindsey Wilson (41-17) wins its first-round game in Idaho it will take on Faulkner University (48-13) from Montgomery, Alabama in its next game. Faulkner's season has been bolstered by the addition of three all-region players from the 2014 Indian Hills squad: infielders Junior Santos and Dario Polanco and left-handed pitcher Christian Torres. Torres has enjoyed an outstanding spring for the Eagles with a 6-1 record and 2.09 ERA, striking out 69 in 51 2/3 innings. Polanco has a .265 batting average with five homers and Santos has hit .250.
Faulkner is the number-two seed and Lindsey Wilson is seeded seventh in the double-elimination tournament that runs May 22-29.
