Fort Dodge, Iowa -- Iowa Central avenged an earlier non-conference loss to Indian Hills with an 11-7 win over the Falcons on Wednesday. The Tritons jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and then had to hold off a late-game rally by the visiting Falcons.
Jake Lewis had four of IHCC's 12 hits and Ben Reznicek and Hiroki Yamaguchi each had a two-hit game.
Six different IHCC hitters drove in a run and Reznicek and Olivier Basabe both scored twice.
The Falcons used five pitchers and starter Jesse Anderson was tagged with the loss. Jordan Magers had two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings of work and Michael Starcevich also fanned two in his inning on the mound.
After falling behind 9-4, Indian Hills scored once in the 7th and twice in the 8th to cut the ICCC lead to 9-7. The Tritons answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th. Then, in the top of the 9th, the Falcons loaded the bases with two outs, but Mike Levar, the potential tying run, ended the game with a strikeout.
The Falcons take on Marshalltown CC in a four-game series this weekend that will end the regular season.
