IHCC Gets Win at Southwestern

Creston, Iowa -- Indian Hills spotted Southwestern CC an early lead -- courtesy of a five-run 2nd inning -- and the Falcons then responded with two five-run frames of their own as IHCC went on to defeat Southwestern, 11-7, in a non-conference contest on Wednesday.

All five of the Spartans' runs in the 2nd were unearned. Jesse Anderson came out of the bullpen to rescue starter Jacob Bruget for the Falcons and Anderson provided 4 1/3 innings of three-hit, shutout relief. Nick Longo, David Kroger and Mike Levar each threw an inning following Anderson.

IHCC's first 5-run inning was the 4th when they tied the score at five. It was still 5-all in the 8th when Indian Hills put together another five-run rally that was greatly aided by Spartans' errors and walks. For the game, SWCC committed seven errors and their pitchers walked eight. Indian Hills had only five hits, which included a homer by Levar, who drove in four runs.

Paolo Montezuma, Levar and Justin Chalupa all scored twice for IHCC.

Indian Hills will travel to Council Bluffs this weekend for a four-game series with Iowa Western.
