West Burlington, Iowa -- Southeastern CC, which hadn't put consecutive batters on base the entire game heading into the bottom of the 9th, saw five straight hitters reach in their final at-bat and three of them scored as the Blackhawks came from behind to deal Indian Hills a 4-3 defeat on Tuesday afternoon.

The Falcons took a 3-1 advantage into the last of the 9th and brought lefty Cody Hinson in to try to nail down the non-conference victory. But SCC got a two-run double from Jesus Zapata to tie the score and a run-scoring single by pinch-hitter Anthony Ruiz to win it.

All three of the IHCC runs were unearned as the Blackhawks committed four errors. The Falcons could have had a much larger lead than the 3-1 margin they owned in the final inning, but they left a runner at third base in four of the last five innings.

Leadoff hitter Ben Reznicek was 4-for-5, the only IHCC player with more than one hit.

The Falcons got superb pitching over the first eight innings -- starter Johno Rodriguez and relievers Matt D'Ariano and Michael Starcevich combining to allow only three hits and an unearned run while striking out 11. Starcevich was especially effective, retiring all six hitters he faced, five of them on Ks.

Indian Hills, in second place in the league standings, travels to face conference leader Iowa Western for a four-game series this weekend.
