Centerville -- Ben Reznicek drove in seven runs and Indian Hills made it 11 wins in its last 12 games with a 21-11 romp past Ellsworth on Wednesday at Pat Daugherty Field.
Reznicek slugged a grand slam homer in the 3rd and a three-run double in the 5th as the Falcons upped their season record to 14-12 with the blowout win.
The bases-loaded home run by Reznicek was one of three round-trippers on the day for IHCC. Mitch Langer and Paolo Montezuma each clubbed a two-run shot in the 1st inning.
After spotting Indian Hills the early 4-0 lead, the visiting Panthers got their bats going and erupted for seven runs, all charged to IHCC starter Jesse Anderson, in the 3rd inning to go ahead 7-4.
Reznicek's slam gave the Falcons an 8-7 lead, but ECC retied the count with a run in the top of the 4th.
Indian Hills immediately regained the lead when Kyle Keck doubled and scored on a wild pitch, one of three runs scored for the IHCC leadoff hitter.
Ellsworth went back on top with two runs in the 5th against reliever Nick Longo. Again, IHCC had a quick answer, this time in the form of a five-run bottom of the 5th. Reznicek's three-run double was the big blow in the inning. He later scored on a wild pitch and then Langer singled home Keck, who had reached on a single.
Johno Rodriguez shut down the Panthers over the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out six.
IHCC put the game away with another five-run inning, the 7th, sending 10 men to the plate. Justin Chalupa provided a two-run single as part of the uprising and Joel Fuentes and Langer also had RBIs.
The game ended by the ten-run rule when the Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the 8th. An RBI groundout by Jake Lewis and a run-scoring double by Travis Neubeck accounted for those runs.
Fuentes, Montezuma and Reznicek all scored three times and Langer, Lewis, Mike Levar and Austin Irvin came across twice apiece. In addition to Reznicek's seven RBIs, Langer had four. Keck and Reznicek had three-hit games and Fuentes, Langer, Montezuma and Levar each had two hits.
Indian Hills returns to conference play this weekend with doubleheaders at Marshalltown CC on Saturday and Sunday.
