Falcons Drop SCC

Centerville -- Indian Hills pounded out 14 hits and had a couple of four-run innings in blasting Southeastern, 12-4, at Pat Daugherty Field on Thursday. The non-conference win allowed IHCC to continue their recovery from a slow start and reach the .500 mark for the season at 12-12. They have gone 9-1 since returning from an early-season trip to Texas.

Against the Blackhawks, Kyle Keck, Joel Fuentes and Mitch Langer each had three hits and Langer knocked in four runs.

Langer started the scoring with a two-run, first-inning single, plating Keck and Fuentes.

Three of the Falcons' runs in their four-run 2nd came without a hit, on a pair of passed balls and a wild pitch.

After SCC climbed back to within 6-4 in the 5th, IHCC again put four runs on the board, an inning that included run-scoring hits by Justin Chalupa, Fuentes and Langer. Jake Lewis drove in an insurance run in the 7th with a single.

IHCC coach Cam Walker used seven pitchers, none of them working more than two innings in preparation for this weekend's four-game home series with Iowa Western.

Starter Johno Rodriguez gave up three runs, but only one was earned. The IHCC hurlers combined to allow only five hits and a single earned run while striking out five.
