Falcons Split with Minnesota Schools

Centerville -- After losing a one-run game in their opener, the Indian Hills Falcons bounced back with a convincing win in their second game of the day on Saturday. St. Cloud Tech defeated IHCC 5-4 in game one, and the Falcons then blitzed Hibbing CC 10-0 behind the shutout pitching of freshman Matt D'Ariano.

St. Cloud Tech broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the 6th and nipped IHCC, who got two of the runs back in the bottom of the inning, but fell a run short.

Mitch Langer had two hits for the Falcons who had two extra-base hits, a double by Paolo Montezuma and a triple by Ryan Shull.

David Kroger started for IHCC and went five innings, giving up five hits and two runs, both earned. Mike Levar was charged with the three SCT runs in the 6th.

Against Hibbing, D'Ariano got his first win as a Falcon, a five-hit shutout with eight Ks. He got plenty of offensive support with Langer and Olivier Basabe each driving in three runs. IHCC had five doubles and a triple, by Austin Irvin. Kyle Keck and Justin Chalupa each scored two runs.

Indian Hills is slated to play two games against Hibbing on Sunday, the first starting at 10am.
