Falcons Notch 20th Win

Centerville -- Three home runs and stellar pitching by Derek Kawlewski and Nick Green allowed Indian Hills to wallop Ellsworth CC, 11-1, at Pat Daugherty Field on Tuesday.

The win is the 20th already for the Falcons whose record goes to 20-9.

The Falcons came into the game with 26 home runs for the spring and added to that total against the Panthers. Junior Santos slugged a three-run shot, part of a six-run 3rd inning, and Mitch Langer, the next batter, added a solo blow, his conference-leading 9th of the year.

Designated hitter Jake Lewis connected for a two-run home run in the 5th.

Held to just one baserunner through the first two innings, the Falcons exploded in the 3rd. In addition to the homers by Santos and Langer, Joel Booker chipped in a run-scoring single and Paulo Montezuma also singled. Montezuma was 3-for-4.

Dario Polanco and Santos had RBI hits in the 4th.

It was the 13th time in their 20 wins that the Falcons have scored ten or more runs.

Kawlewski threw three-hit shutout baseball over the first five innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. Green gave up only an unearned run and two hits in his two innings of relief.

Indian Hills will host Iowa Central on Thursday in a varsity/JV doubleheader with the first game starting at 2:00. The Falcons head to Council Bluffs this weekend for a four-game series against Iowa Western. The Falcons are a game behind IWCC in the league standings. The doubleheaders start at 1:00 on Saturday and noon Sunday.
