Falcons Notch Road Wins

Highland, Kansas -- The Indian Hills baseball team headed south Tuesday in search of a playable field, a trip that resulted in two victories. Playing on Highland CC's field, the Falcons defeated Highland, 15-3, and North Central (Mo.) 11-1 to up their season record to 12-8.

Strong pitching performances by Nick Green and Derek Kawlewski and a potent offense carried the Falcons to the wins.

Green allowed only four hits and two earned runs and struck out five in the opening win against Highland.

His teammates backed him with an 11-hit attack that included homers by Junior Santos and Edgar Lebron.

IHCC scored a run without the benefit of a hit in the 2nd and then broke loose for seven runs in the 3rd. Santos had a two-run homer, Luis Estevez singled home a run and Lebron's three-run home run capped the big inning.

Estevez had four RBIs and Mike Levar scored four runs.

A sacrifice fly by Estevez accounted for one of the runs in a two-run 4th and the Falcons finished off the Scotties with five in the 5th. Levar had a two-run single, Mitch Langer a run-scoring double, and Estevez a two-RBI single in the inning.

Kawlewski fired a three-hitter with six Ks in the nightcap against North Central.

Lebron, who had homered batting in the nine-hole in the first game, was elevated to the leadoff spot and led off the game with a home run.

Kyle Keck had an RBI-double in the 2nd and Joel Booker and Santos each slugged a solo homer in the 3rd.

The Falcons added four runs in the 4th on run-scoring doubles by Booker and Polanco and a two-run single by Langer.

Polanco drove in a run in the 5th with a single and Joel Fuentes brought home another with a groundout.

Booker had three hits and Lebron, Polanco and Langer each had two. Keck reached base in all three of his plate appearances and scored each time.

The Falcons are slated to host Southwestern in a doubleheader on Thursday.
