Southern Swing Ends With Victory

Paris, Texas -- A narrow victory is just what the Indian Hills baseball team needed to make the journey back to Iowa seem a little shorter. The Falcons prevailed in a slugfest with Paris JC, beating the Dragons, 11-10, on Thursday afternoon in a getaway day game that left the Falcons with a season record of 10-8.

Indian Hills used a 14-hit attack and got the eventual game-winning run on an RBI single by Junior Santos in the 8th inning. Santos' hit brought home Kyle Keck, whose two-out double kept the inning alive for Santos to pick up his third hit and fourth RBI of the game.

Santos also doubled home two runs in the 1st and single home a run in the 4th.

Dario Polanco also had three hits for IHCC and Edgar Lebron, Joel Booker and Mitch Langer had two hits apiece. Lebron and Booker scored three runs each and Polanco and Santos scored twice.

The Falcons used five pitchers with Jake Klancnik getting the win and Joelfi Arias recording a save with a perfect 9th inning, in which he got all three hitters to fly out to Lebron in center field. Jordan Magers supplied some clutch relief pitching after coming on for starter Aaron Doughty, who was unable to duplicate the success he had in his last outing when he no-hit Carl Albert.

Magers threw three shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

The Falcons return home to get ready for a trip to Trenton, Missouri to take on North Central next Tuesday. The home opener is Thursday, Mar. 20, against Southwestern at Pat Daugherty Field.
