IHCC Drops Two to Hill

Hillsboro, Texas -- A run in the bottom of the 9th allowed Hill College to complete a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Indian Hills Falcons on Wednesday. Hill's Josh Foster had a bunt single to plate Nick Castillja with the winning run in an 8-7 win after the Rebels' Drew Grimes limited the Falcons to three hits in a 7-1 victory in the opener.

Indian Hills had their share of baserunners in game one as Grimes walked eight and hit a batter. But the Falcons grounded into two double plays and stranded eight runners, their only run coming on a Dario Polanco home run in the 6th. Caleb Ratzman's single and a single by Jake Lewis accounted for the only other hits against Grimes, who struck out five.

Hill scored five runs against IHCC starter Nick Green and added two more against reliever Daniel Rivera.

In the nightcap, Indian Hills put together a 9th inning rally to tie the score at 7. Joel Fuentes drew a one-out walk and Edgar Lebron also walked. After a wild pitch, Ben Reznicek brought home Fuentes with a groundout and Polanco followed with an RBI single.

the Rebels then scored the game-winning run against reliever Sean Cruz in the bottom of the inning.

Fuentes, the number-nine hitter, had two singles, one of them a two-run hit, and a walk and scored twice. Reznicek had an RBI double to go along with his run-scoring grounder.

Derek Kawlewski started and pitched into the 7th inning, the longest outing for an IHCC starter so far this spring. He gave up eight hits and four earned runs with four walks and four Ks.

With a 9-8 record, the Falcons will conclude their southern trip with a single nine-inning game against Paris JC today.
