Wilburton, Oklahoma -- Ben Reznicek's two-run single in the 6th inning snapped a tie and allowed the Indian Hills Falcons to gain a split in their doubleheader with Eastern Oklahoma on Friday. Indian Hills won 6-5 after losing 6-4. It was the first action on a 12-game swing through Oklahoma and Texas for IHCC.
With the score even at 4-all, Mike Levar led off the top of the 6th by drawing a walk. Pinch-hitter Edgar Lebron followed with a double and Reznicek, also pinch-hitting, brought both runners home with a single.
Eastern Oklahoma got one run back in the bottom of the 6th, but IHCC reliever Jose Marin left the base loaded, getting a groundout to preserve the lead. Marin stranded the potential tying run at 3rd in the bottom of the 7th, again getting a groundout to second base, to save the win for starter Derek Kawlewski. Kawlewski went the first five innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs with four Ks.
IHCC jumped out to a quick lead, scoring four times in the 1st. Dario Polanco had a two-run homer and Levar doubled home a run and later scored.
Eastern Oklahoma tallied a run in the 4th and tied the game at 4 with three in the 5th.
Leadoff hitter Kyle Keck and number-two hitter Junior Santos each had two hits and Levar scored twice.
The Mountaineers came from behind to knock off the Falcons in game one. They scored two times in the 5th to break a 4-4 deadlock.
Joel Booker doubled home Caleb Ratzman for a first-inning run for IHCC. Mitch Langer hit a two-out solo homer to straightaway center field in the 2nd. And Jake Lewis slammed a two-run home run following a Paulo Montezuma single in the 4th.
The Falcons, though, were held to just one hit over the final three innings.
Langer had a double to go along with his homer. He was the only Falcon with more than one hit.
Nick Green started and went four innings for IHCC. He gave up six hits and three earned runs while fanning four.
Cody Hinson took the loss when he was charged with the two 5th-inning runs, only one of which was earned.
