Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Allison Birnbaum as Assistant Athletic Trainer.

"I'm honored to join the Indian Hills family and can't wait to get started," stated Birnbaum. "This is an exciting opportunity to work with outstanding coaches and dedicated student-athletes in a program with a strong tradition of excellence. I'm looking forward to making a positive impact, supporting our athletes every day, and becoming part of a community that is passionate about helping students succeed both on and off the field."

Birnbaum joins the Indian Hills Athletic Department following six years as an Athletic Trainer at Athletico Physical Therapy in Ankeny, IA. While with Athletico, Birnbaum served as the full-time athletic trainer at Martensdale – St. Mary's High School, providing treatment, evaluations, injury prevents, and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes. Birnbaum also served a number of secondary and higher education institutions throughout the region, including Waukee High School, Indianola High School, Southeast Polk High School, and Simpson College.

In addition to her role with Athletico, Birnbaum served as an Athletic Trainer PRN with Des Moines University, providing coverage for numerous high school and professional organizations.

"Her expertise, commitment to athlete health, and passion for helping individuals perform at their best make her an outstanding addition to our program. I look forward to the relationships she will build with our athletes, coaches, and community."

Birnbaum joins a staff at Indian Hills comprised of four full-time Athletic Trainers that provide support, guidance, and rehabilitation of more than 300 student-athletes.

Birnbaum received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wartburg College and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Grand View University. Birnbaum has obtained numerous licenses and certifications throughout her professional career, including BLS, BOC, and NASM-CPT certifications. Birnbaum is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
