BASEBALL-WRESTLING BANQUET SET FOR SEPT. 29

Ottumwa, IA – The inaugural Indian Hills Baseball-Wrestling Banquet will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Bessie's Barn in Centerville, IA.

Headlined by former MLB veteran Turk Wendell as the keynote speaker, the first banquet will highlight the accomplishments of the Indian Hills Baseball and Men's and Women's Wrestling programs. The banquet will feature a VIP meet and greet with Wendell, introduction of teams, silent auction, dinner, live auction, and Wendell's keynote address.

The women's wrestling program captured the first-ever Women's Junior College National Championship in its first year of competition in the spring of 2021. The Warriors earned three individual national champions and 12 total All-Americans.

The men's wrestling team is also coming off an impressive showing at the national level. The Warriors captured its first ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) District Championship and finished eighth overall at the NJCAA National Championship.

The Warrior baseball program made a thrilling run to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO in 2021 after winning the NJCAA Region XI Championship and the NJCAA Midwest District Championship.

An 11-year MLB veteran, Wendell played for the Chicago Cubs, the New York Mets, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Colorado Rockies. Wendell helped the Mets reach the MLB World Series in 2000, the same year he was awarded the "Good Guy Award" by the New York Press Photographers Association.
