The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has named Elani Mears as August’s Student-Athlete of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.
Mears, a freshman from Burlington, had a tremendous start to her career. Mear had to starts and helped the warriors to their 2-0 record to begin the season. She had 10 saves, which included a shut out game against Hutchinson, and 1 assist in the two competitions to start off the season. Coach Longo stated, “Elani has come in from the first day of preseason camp and has performed at a high level. Elani is a smart player and extremely confident in goal. She has made timely saves in goal when needed, and has been a leader for the defense. Elani has the talent and the work ethic to be the top goalie in the conference while at Indian Hills.”
