Chariton, Iowa native Kylie Bengtson was hired in the summer of 2018 to be the Indian Hills softball assistant coach under first-year head coach Lindsay Diehl. Bengtson served as the softball student manager for four years at one of the top programs in the country, the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She got an opportunity to help in all aspects of that program under head coach Patrick Murphy, a former Iowa high school baseball coach.
Bengtson earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from Alabama, then came back to Iowa to teach physical education at St. Anthony Catholic School in Des Moines while helping coach the Dowling Catholic High School softball squad for two years. While in college she also served as an assistant coach for junior high and senior high softball at Chariton.
