The Indian Hills Community College athletic department has recognized Julien Sale (golf) and Erin Kuba (softball) as April’s student-athletes of the month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding work in their respective sport and in the classroom.
Kuba, a sophomore infielder, had a stellar month of April, leading the softball team to their fourth consecutive Region XI title, garnering Region XI Player of the Year. The national player of the week (April 16-22) played in 19 games during the month of April, with 22 runs, 31 hits, 13 doubles, 5 home runs, 28 RBI’s and a .500 batting average. “Erin has had a monumental month of April, just in time to help lead us to another Region XI Tournament title,” said head coach Laura North. “On the field, she has been phenomenal and off the field, she has also been a great representative of our softball team,” remarked coach North. Kuba, a cancer survivor, helped the team host their Strikeout Cancer Event, which raised $2,000 for the American Cancer Society. She will graduate in May with a 3.5 GPA. The Warrior softball team will compete in the District J Playoff Game May 4th against Three Rivers Community College with an opportunity to play in the NJCAA DI Softball National Tournament May 16-19th in St. George, Utah.
