The Indian Hills Community College athletic department has recognized Joe Kim (golf) and Shalandra Shilling (women’s track and field) as June’s student-athletes of the month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding work in their respective sport and in the classroom.
Kim, a freshman from Castle Hill, Australia finished his inaugural campaign helping the golf team win their sixth NJCAA national title. The Jack Nicklaus Award nominee finished the season tied for fifth at the national meet, earning All-American honors. Only twenty-four collegiate golfers across all divisions within the United States are nominated for the Jack Nicklaus award named after legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. Kim also garnered Academic All-Region second team honors and aided the 2018 IHCC golf team in being named an NJCAA All-Academic program.
