The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has tabbed Sophomore Men’s Basketball stand-out Torrey Patton as January’s Student-Athlete of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.
Torrey Patton, a sophomore native of Dayton, Ohio, had a monster month of January. In 6 games this month, Patton has averaged 17.3ppg, 11.2 rpg, and he has been incredibly efficient shooting the basketball at 42-of-75 (56%) for the month. His efforts helped the Warriors to a 7-0 start to the 2019 year. His huge offensive rebound put-back on January 26th versus Iowa Western put the game into overtime, and gave the Warriors an extra chance to come away with a big win. Coach Hank Plona said of Patton, “Torrey continues to be everything that we hope for in a student-athlete. He quietly goes about his business, brings a positive attitude every single day, and is a leader by example who has the utmost respect from all of his teammates. Torrey was a 1st Team Academic All-Region student-athlete during the fall semester, who will graduate from Indian Hills in May.”
