The Indian Hills Community College athletic department has recognized freshman Ricky Sanders (golf) and sophomore Shyanne DuBois (softball)) as July’s student-athletes of the month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding work in their respective sport and in the classroom.
Sanders finished his impressive freshman campaign with an individual victory at the 2017 NJCAA District III championship as well as an individual national title at the 2017 NJCAA DI National Golf Tournament, winning by four shots and leading the Indian Hills golf team to a second place team finish. The freshman phenome was also a semifinalist for the 2017 NJCAA Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. Sanders excelled in the classroom this spring as well, as he was named Second Team Spring 2017 Academic All-Region by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, finishing the term with a 3.0 GPA.
The Warrior golf and softball squads will open up their 2017-18 campaigns beginning in September with fall competitions.
